The Fraternity of Brother Francis is a local Secular Franciscan Order composed of single and married men and women, called penitents or tertiaries, living in the Newton, NC area. Our Fraternity was canonically established March 10, 1991 and is part of the Brothers and Sisters of St. Francis region including 33 local fraternities, which are located in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
We live our lives in the world but patterned after the spirit of St Francis of Assisi. We follow the Rule of St. Francis which was established originally in 1228 and revised in 1978.
Our region established four pillars which we strive to live by….Spirituality, Formation, Fraternity and Apostolate. Please check out our site for our contributions to the world living by these four pillars.
Our Fraternity gathers every second Saturday of the at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Newton, NC at 2:00 to 4:30 pm. If you believe you may have a calling to a Secular Franciscan vocation and way of life we invite you to come and see us!
