About Us

Pax et Bonum!!   Peace and all good!!
Welcome to our website.  We at the Fraternity of Brother Francis are members of the Secular Franciscan Order (Ordo Franciscanus Saecularis, O.F.S), founded by St Francis and canonically established by Pope Honorious III back in the year 1221. We are men and women, devoted to faithfully living our daily lives “going from the gospel to life and life to the gospel” following in the footsteps of St Francis of Assisi.  We live our lives in the world but patterned after the spirit of St Francis. Today, we follow the Rule of St. Francis which was established originally in 1221 and revised by St. Pope Paul VI in 1978.
The Fraternity of Brother Francis is a local Secular Franciscan Order composed of single and married men and women, called penitents or tertiaries, living in the NC Piedmont  and surrounding areas.
Our Fraternity was canonically established March 10, 1991 and is part of the Brothers and Sisters of St. Francis region including 33 local fraternities, which are located in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.  Our region established four pillars which we strive to live by….Spirituality, Formation, Fraternity and Apostolate.  Please check out our site for our contributions to the world living by these four pillars.
We are members of parishes within the Diocese of Charlotte, NC including St Josephs Catholic Church in Newton, St Aloysius Catholic Church in Hickory, and St Phillip the Apostle in Statesville, NC.
Please enjoy learning about our profession to the Secular Franciscan Order and our Fraternity via our website and be sure to visit our Upcoming Events tab for events in our area.
